SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Nevada (1-2) men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches in a weekend trip to Utah. On Saturday the Wolf Pack fell 5-1 at BYU (5-0) and today lost 4-0 to Utah (4-0). The Pack is now 1-2 on the season and returns to action on Feb. 6 at Sacramento State.
Nevada earned the doubles point at BYU by winning all three doubles matches. Andrew Poustie and Robert Allan defeated Jeremy Bourgeois and Andrey Goryachkov 6-3 in the #1 match. Aaron Breust and Peter O'Donovan won at #2 doubles 6-1 over Shane Monroe and Keaton Cullimore. In the third doubles match Nevada's Ryan Andrada and Robert Margitfalvi downed John Pearce and Jacob Sullivan 5-3.
BYU won the five completed singles matches to win 5-1.
At Utah the Utes took the doubles with wins on courts #1 and #2. Poustie and Allan fell 7-6 (7-5) in the #1 doubles match. O'Donovan and Breust lost 6-1 at #2 doubles.
Utah won the three completed singles matches in straight sets. Andrada lost 6-4, 6-3 at #1 singles. Allan fell 6-0, 6-0 at #4 singles and O'Donovan lost 6-2, 6-3 in the #6 singles match. The other three matches went unfinished as the Utes had clinched the victory.
