RENO, Nev. - Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, has selected University of Nevada senior forward AJ West to his preseason Mountain West first team. West returns for his senior year after earning National Association of Basketball Coaches District 17 second team and third-team Mountain West honors last season.

West led the Wolf Pack averaging 12.1 points and 11 rebounds per game this season. The Brooklyn, N.Y. native led the MW in rebounding and offensive rebounds (5.9 orpg). He also ranked 12th in scoring, third in blocks per game (2.6 bpg) and sixth in defensive rebounds per game (5.1 drpg).

In MW play he topped the conference in rebounding (12.1 rpg) and offensive rebounds per game (6.4 orpg). He also ranked 10th in scoring (13.1 ppg), third in blocks per game (2.4 bpg) and fifth in defensive rebounds per game (5.7 drpg).

West set MW records this season with 178 offensive rebounds in all games played and 116 in MW play. His 188 career offensive rebounds in MW play is also a conference record.

West ranked first nationally averaging 5.93 offensive rebounds per game and was ninth with his 11 rebounds per game. He is 20th in blocks per game (2.63 bpg), 15th with 331 rebounds, 23rd with 14 double-doubles and 28th with 79 total blocks in NCAA I.

His 11 double-doubles in MW play led the conference as did his eight blocks against Fresno State. In the Wyoming game he grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds which tied for the top game in the MW.
