RENO, Nev. -- A poker tournament and tailgate before the Silver and Blue Spring Game are among the highlights of the Nevada Football Alumni Weekend April 24-25.

"I am very excited to have football alumni back for the spring game weekend -- we welcome them with open arms," third-year Nevada coach Brian Polian said. "We are standing on the foundation that they built and we are trying to continue the great tradition that they have grown. It is important for our current players to know and appreciate those who came before them and this is a wonderful opportunity to do just that."

On Friday, April 24, Nevada coach Brian Polian and members of the current Wolf Pack staff will welcome back alumni at a reception at the Eldorado Casino Hotel. Later, at 6:30 p.m., a poker tournament will be held at the Eldorado, with all proceeds going to Wolf Pack football. The poker tournament is open to the public with a $100 buy-in.

On Saturday, the Beefeaters will host a Football Alumni tailgate in the parking lot just north of Mackay Stadium prior to the annual Silver and Blue Spring Game, which kicks off at 1 p.m.

"The chapter is excited about having as many former players back and participating in our first poker tournament," said Matt Airoldi, the president of the Football Alumni Chapter. "This event has the ability to not only raise a great deal of funding for the football program, but poker allows more former players and fans to interact and enjoy the social side of the event."

Reservations for football alumni can be made at www.alumni.unr.edu/events.
