Day One Results
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Nevada got a pair of 2-over performances from Nick Fuller and Nicholas Smits and a career-low round by Kit Carson on Monday as the Wolf Pack sits in eighth place heading into the final round of the Del Walker Intercollegiate.
Nevada shot a 293 in the first round and came back with a 281 in the afternoon and it's team score of 574 is just 13 shots back of tournament-leading UC Irvine with 18 holes to play. Nevada is four shots ahead of Mountain West foe Fresno State.
Smits, a senior, fired back-to-back 71s on Monday at Virginia Country Club and he's tied for 12th place, alongside the sophomore Fuller, who went 72-70.
Carson, a junior, opened with a 79 in the first round but he came back with a career-low 68 in round two and finds himself tied for 38th along with freshman Jooho Lee. Fellow frosh Grant Booth is a shot back and tied for 48th at 148.
Freshman Corey Eddings, who is competing as an individual, is tied for 64th with 18 holes to play.
