LUBBOCK, Texas - The University of Nevada (1-7) men's tennis team lost its second match in a road trip to Texas falling 6-0 at #32 Texas Tech (12-4). The Wolf Pack drops to 1-7 on the season while the Red Raiders improved to 12-4.
"We had tough three setters at #1, #2 and #6 singles" head coach Erik Burton said. "We are getting stronger and we looked forward to playing matches at home."
Nevada returns home to play its next four matches in Reno starting with the home opener next Saturday versus Sacramento State at 1 p.m. at Caughlin Ranch Country Club.
TTU swept the six singles matches and the doubles pairings were not played.
The Red Raiders Alex Sendegeya got it started winning #3 singles 6-2, 6-0 over Fernando Sunago. Jolan Cailleau downed Robert Allan 6-2, 6-4 in #4 singles. Felipe Soarez won #1 singles in three sets over Andrew Poustie 6-4, 1-6 and 6-3 to give TTU a 3-0 lead.
Hugo Dojas kept it going for TTU with a win in #2 singles but it took three sets to knock off Moez Chargui 7-5, 2-6 and 6-3. Connor Curry swept the #5 singles 6-2, 6-3 defeating Mile Cilic. Francisco Zambon closed out the match with a 6-3, 2-6 and 10-3 victory over Peter O'Donovan.
