DAVIS, Calif. - Battling high winds that reached 25 miles per hour the University of Nevada (1-5) men's tennis team lost 5-2 at UC Davis (8-3) in a match that was rescheduled from earlier this month. The Wolf Pack dropped to 1-5 on the season while the Aggies improved to 8-3.
Nevada plays two matches in Lubbock, Texas next weekend. Friday the Pack plays UT San Antonio and Saturday squares off against Texas Tech.
The Pack earned the doubles point winning the #1 and #2 pairings. Robert Allan and Moez Chargui got the doubles started for Nevada with an 8-3 victory over Bryce McKelvie and Brett Bacharach in the #2 matchup. UCD evened the doubles as Alec Adamson and Eli Whittle defeated Billy Bumgardner and Robert Margitfalvi 8-6. In #1 doubles Andrew Poustie and Fernando Sunago knocked off James Wade and Adam Levie 8-6 to earn the point.
UC Davis won the first four singles matches that were completed. McKelvie won 6-2, 6-3 over Andrada in the #4 singles. Everett Maltby took the #5 singles downing Peter O'Donovan 6-3, 6-4. The #1 singles went three sets before the Aggies' Wade won 2-6, 6-0 and 6-3 over Chargui. Whittle defeated Allan in three sets, 7-6, 6-7 and 6-1 to claim the #6 singles.
Poustie earned the Pack a point in #2 singles with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Adamson. The #3 singles went the way of UCD with Bacharach winning 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3 over Sunago.
