WBCA Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Allstate Insurance Company announced today an all-time high 257 nominees for the 2015 Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Team, with University of Nevada women's basketball senior, Julia Shelbourn receiving a nomination.

The prestigious community service award recognizes a distinguished group of student-athletes who have demonstrated a commitment to enriching the lives of others and contributing to the greater good in their communities.

This is the second year in a row that Shelbourn has received this nomination. Despite suffering a season-ending injury a few weeks ago, Shelbourn still sets aside time to actively participate and engage in community service efforts, something she has done since her freshman year. Currently serving in her second term as the Nevada Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president, Shelbourn led the group to winning the Mountain West SAAC Community Service Challenge last year. She is one of two student-athletes on the women's side to be nominated from a Mountain West school.

From the 103 WBCA nominees (which Shelbourn is a part of) and 154 NABC nominees, distinguished voting panels will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February.

Members of the Allstate WBCA Good Works Team will be recognized during the 2016 WBCA Convention and at the 2016 NCAA Women's Final Four in Indianapolis, and will also participate in a local community project.
