RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball coach Jane Albright announced today that junior guard Ashlee Jones will undergo season-ending surgery on her right knee.
"We are devastated that this is our third season-ending injury so early into the year," Albright said. "We've lost three of our starters now and in them we've lost valuable on-court experience and leadership. Now our younger members will have opportunities to step up and give us great minutes."
Jones sustained her injury during the first quarter of last Friday's contest against Washington State from Honolulu, Hawaii. She will begin the rehab process following surgery in hopes of being ready to go for the 2016-17 season.
This is the third season-ending knee injury for the Wolf Pack after losing two other starters in junior T Moe and senior Julia Shelbourn earlier in the year.
