BUTLER RUSHES INTO PACK RECORD BOOK WITH 1,000-YARD SEASON
With a 10-yard rush to open the second quarter, sophomore RB James Butler eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing on the season … Butler became the 18th player in Pack history to reach 1,000 yards in a single season, while it's the 31st time Nevada's boasted a 1,000-yard rusher … Butler is the first running back to rush for 1,000 yards since Stephon Jefferson's record season in 2012 with 1,883 yards … Butler is also the first sophomore to rush for 1,000 yards in a season since Vai Taua rushed for 1,521 yards in 2008.
BUTLER TALLIES FOURTH CONSECUTIVE 100+ GAME
Sophomore RB James Butler rushed 17 times for 139 yards and two touchdown runs … Butler has now eclipsed 100 yards rushing in four straight games … It's the first time a Nevada player's achieved that feat since RB Stephon Jefferson opened the 2012 season with five consecutive 100+ rushing games … Butler now has seven 100+ rushing games this season and nine for his career.
AGGIES SNAP WOLF PACK'S WIN STREAK
Nevada entered the game with a season-long three-game win streak … The Wolf Pack was playing for its first four-game win streak in the Polian era and the first since 2012 … Utah State snapped its own two-game losing streak while putting a halt to Nevada's three-game win streak.
PAIR OF INTERCEPTIONS LEAD TO TOUCHDOWNS
Senior LB Jordan Dobrich gave Nevada a 7-0 lead in the first quarter with a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown … On 3rd-and-2 at the 22-yard line, Kent Myers' pass was deflect at the line by senior DL Rykeem Yates before Dobrich intercepted the ball at the 25-yard line and raced into the end zone … The play was Dobrich's first career touchdown and Nevada's second defensive touchdown of the season … It also marked Nevada's first pick-six since DE Lenny Jones tallied a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown at UNLV on Nov. 29, 2014 … Senior LB Bryan Lane Jr. added his first interception of the season in the second quarter, which set up a scoring drive that put Nevada in front 14-0.
SECOND HALF SUPERLATIVES
Nevada out-scored Utah State by a 21-7 margin in the first half with a 153-78 advantage in total offense … The Aggies then out-scored the Wolf Pack by a 24-6 margin in the second half with a 235-111 advantage in total offense … Nevada led 27-7 with 14:10 remaining in the third quarter - its first 20-point lead of the season - before Utah State scored 24 straight points.
