With its sixth win of the season, Nevada is now bowl eligible … The Wolf Pack has reached bowl eligibility in 10 of the past 11 seasons … Entering the year, Nevada was one of 20 teams in FBS and one of four teams outside the power-five conference to have played in nine bowl games in the past 10 years … The Pack becomes the first team from the MW West Division to reach bowl eligibility this season, while joining Boise State and Air Force from the Mountain Division as bowl eligible MW teams.
PACK WINS IN OVERTIME
Senior RB Don Jackson's two-yard touchdown rush with 36 seconds remaining tied the game at 31-31, forcing overtime … It marked Nevada's 11th all-time overtime game … The Wolf Pack is now 5-6 in overtime games … This was Nevada's first overtime victory since Oct. 6, 2012 at Wyoming.
BUTLER TALLIES FOURTH STRAIGHT 100+ RUSHING GAME
Sophomore RB James Butler rushed 16 times for 119 yards and one touchdown to lead the Wolf Pack … Butler has now rushed for 100 yards in four consecutive games … Butler now has six 100+ rushing games on the season and eight for his career … Butler broke free for a 58-yard touchdown run, putting Nevada in front 21-17 with 9:37 left in the third quarter …. With 158 carries for 994 yards, Butler is six yards away from becoming the 31st player in Wolf Pack history to reach 1,000 rushing yards in a season.
STEWART TOSSES THREE TOUCHDOWNS
Junior QB Tyler Stewart set a season-high and matched a career-high with three touchdown passes … Stewart put Nevada in front with a five-yard touchdown pass to junior WR Jerico Richardson on the first drive of the game … Stewart's second TD pass - a 24-yard strike to junior WR Hasaan Henderson - gave Nevada a 24-21 lead with 14:54 left in the fourth quarter … Stewart's final TD pass clinched the victory with an 11-yard TD pass to junior TE Jarred Gipson in Nevada's first overtime possession … Stewart went 16-of-26 for 174 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing seven times for 33 yards.
PACK SHINES ON FOURTH DOWN
The Wolf Pack entered the game ranking 121st in FBS with a 27.3 fourth down conversion percentage … Nevada proceeded to go 5-of-5 in fourth down against the Spartans, setting a season-high mark in fourth down conversions … The Wolf Pack converted on 4th-and-4 and 4th-and-3 in its final drive in regulation that tied the game at 31-31.
MUHAMMAD BLOCKS SPARTAN'S WINNING ATTEMPT
After Nevada tied the game at 31-31 with 36 seconds remaining, San José State drove 41 yards in five plays to reach Nevada's 34-yard line … With six seconds remaining, SJSU's senior PK Austin Lopez lined up for a 51-yard, game-winning field goal … Redshirt freshman CB Ahki Muhammad blocked the attempted kick as time expired, allowing Nevada to enter overtime and win the game … It marked Muhammad's first career blocked field goal and Nevada's first blocked field goal since Jordan Dobrich at Hawai'i on Oct. 25, 2014.
PACK SNAPS STREAK WITH FIRST-DRIVE TOUCHDOWN
Nevada snapped a streak of five straight games without scoring an offensive touchdown in the first quarter … The Wolf Pack drove nine plays and 58 yards on its first drive before Tyler Stewart threw a 5-yard TD pass to Jerico Richardson … It marked the first time since the season-opening UC Davis game that Nevada's offense scored on its first drive of the game … The Wolf Pack scored the game's first 10 points, marking its best start in a game this season since leading UC Davis, 14-0, in the first quarter.
