Head coach Brian Polian

Opening statement…
"Anybody do anything fun today? There's a lot to talk about in that game, but the biggest takeaway is how proud I am of our team for continuing to fight and battle. In the end, we made enough plays to win the game. There's a lot of things we could have done better, but we'll focus on that tomorrow. They worked really hard this week, the preparation was good. That was a really tough and well-coached team we played. We kept Ervin in check well. We needed to do a better job of keeping the quarterback in the pocket. We ran the ball effectively. I though Tyler was great, he was phenomenal. He through the ball well, he ran the offense well, I'm really proud of him. That field goal block; Holy cow. With all the ups and downs emotionally of this game and this week, when it mattered most we kept our heads collectively and found a way to win the game." On Jayme King… "We presented Jayme King's family with the game ball in the locker room. I'm happy that, on the day she was honored, we were able to win the game."

On Tyler Stewart's performance at the end of the game…
"He executed when we needed it the most. He found ways to make plays. He stood in that pocket. We've been in a lot of games these past two years, and it felt like we could never find a way to get it done. Yet, Tyler and the leadership of this football team found a way to get it done today. My experience is, in life in general, you have to be through these experiences before to understand how to handle them. In order to win games like this, you have to go through some struggle. You have to be hardened. They continue to show their character. They continue to compete and fight."

On where this win ranks…
"This is a special win, no doubt. With senior day, and being able to share that with Jayme King's family. That was a big deal."

On the importance of this game for the seniors…
"The leadership today was fantastic. Lenny Jones and Don Jackson specifically. Matthew Lyons gets hurt and goes back in there. Hasaan Henderson gets hurt and goes back in there. They showed a lot of resilience. For our senior to go out like that, to win today, that was great. This was a great way for this class to end their time in Mackay Stadium."

On bowl eligibility…
"To get to bowl eligibility, after the hard time we had earlier this season, that speaks to our guys. Ten years of bowl eligibility in 11 years is so important. There's very few FBS teams with that, and I have to give Coach Ault credit. He started this streak. I knew this team could get bowl eligible, and they found a way to get it done. I'd like to go win seven or eight, but as we sit here tonight, I'm very happy for our guys."

On the final play of the game…
"Gip did a really good job of getting open. With the way we had been running, they were stacking the box, and we figured we could get someone to squeak through. Nick Rolovich called a really good play there. That ball felt like it was in the air for about a minute and a half. That was a pretty wild ending. That's proof of our hard work and that we could do it."

Junior TE Jarred Gipson

On the win…
"It felt great. It's the last home game of the year. It felt good to go out there and play for the seniors. I told Tyler on that last play I'm going to do it a little differently, and it worked. I just had to turn around. I was just like woah. I did this for my team. That was one of the smartest touchdowns I've put together."

Junior QB Tyler Stewart

On the last play call…
"It worked earlier in the game. James Butler's big run was the same thing, a run play option. There was a guy in my face. It's one of those either they cover it or they don't kind of things. Those two other close games earlier this season really helped us. The two minute is really a place where you have to excel to be a good team."

On sending out the seniors…
"That's a special group of guys, and we're a special team. Senior night has been a rough one since I've been here, so I'm glad we could do it for them."

On his fourth down scramble…
"I knew it was fourth down, but I was looking to throw it. I heard someone yell go and I thought 'You know what, I can run' so I just went for it. I wanted to prove I could lead the offense when they need to be led."

On the importance of coming back…
"The defense held them to a field goal, and that was huge. We let them down the other two times we had the chance to tie the game. It felt good. I feel like we had the momentum going into overtime. When the defense held them to a field goal in overtime, we knew what we had to do."

Senior LB Jordan Dobrich

On his final home win…
"As a senior, I don't think we could have gone out any better. It makes me extremely grateful for the time I've been here. We talked about it before, that we just didn't want this game to be for the senior, we wanted it to be for the team."

On his journey…
"I showed up as a walk-on, kind of bottom of the barrel. No one knew my name, the coaches barely knew my name. I came in with a mentality that I was going to work. I was able to travel my first year, and then I got put on scholarship for special teams after that. My junior year, I got put on defense and have been able to contribute there. It's been an uphill battle for me, and it still is. This win on senior day is just the icing on the cake."

On rushing the field after the game…
"Before it even happened, I thought once we score this touchdown, I'm sprinting onto the field. It was a good feeling for sure."

On stopping Ervin…
"We just tried to focus on our fundamentals. We knew we had to run to the ball, we had to gang tackle. We didn't pull any magic. We just went out there and tried to play disciplined football."

Senior DE Lenny Jones

On the locker room after the game…
"Oh man that was great. Honestly, that might have been the most exciting locker room I've seen since I've been here."

On what he did at the end of the game…
"I ran the opposite way. I ran toward the student section. Some guy jumped on the field and gave me a high five. I wanted to celebrate with the fans. Let them know we're still here for them and they're still here for us."

On QB Tyler Stewart
"This showed me he could finish and that he is who we thought he was. He's poised, he never looses his head. I love Tyler man, he's my boy."

On the third down stop in OT…
"That was a big play. He went quickly. I think the coaches told him if your first read isn't there then go. That was huge."

On stopping Ervin…
"That was huge. It doesn't matter who you are, if you play football you can shut anyone down. When you hear about a player all week, you come into the game knowing you have to shut him down. It felt really good."
