STOCKTON, Calif. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team had two individuals reach the semifinals on Friday at the Pacific Invitational being played at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts. Senior Andrew Poustie advanced in the A singles and senior Robert Allan in the B singles. The Pack's doubles team of senior Ryan Andrada and freshman Aaron Breust are in the B doubles semifinals.

Play at the invitational continues Saturday and Sunday.

In the round of 16 Poustie defeated Sonoma State's Blaine Mengert 6-4, 6-1 and defeated San Francisco's woravin kumthonkittul 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals. His semifinal match is against Pacific's Sem Verbeek.

Sophomore Mile Cilic scored a 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 hard fought three set victory in his first match in the A singles over Jesse Ross of UC Davis. In the quarterfinals he lost 7-6, 6-5 to St. Mary's Alex Hunt.

Andrada lost his first match in the A singles to Fresno State's Youssef Hassan 7-6, 6-4. In the consolation bracket he fell in three sets 3-6, 6-2, and 1-0 to St. Mary's James Markiewicz.

Allan won both of his B singles matches in straight sets downing Sonoma State's Logan Liddell 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 16 and San Francisco's Jerod Mah 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. His semifinal matchup is against St. Mary's Jacob Lagman.

Sophomore Peter O'Donovan won his first match in the B singles defeating Sonoma State's Matt Weeber 6-3, 5-7 and 6-3. O'Donovan fell in the quarterfinals to St. Mary's Jacob Lagman 6-1, 7-5.

Freshman Jonathan Aremon lost his B singles round of 16 match 6-1, 1-6 and 6-2 to Fresno State's Alexandros Vakouftsis. Aremon defeated Daniel Holz of Sonoma State 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of consolation play and received bye into the semifinals. He plays Eli Whittle of UC Davis in the semifinals.

Breust and sophomore David Pantell competed in the C singles bracket. Breust won his quarterfinal match 6-4, 6-3 over Sonoma State's Christian Francisco. He will play Sullivan Roche of Sonoma State in the semifinals.

Pantell lost 1-6, 6-4 and 6-1 in the quarterfinals to Travis Lynds of Sonoma State. He will play San Francisco's Jason Lee in the consolation quarterfinals.

Allan and O'Donovan received a bye into the quarterfinals of the A doubles then dropped a 6-1 quarterfinal match to Tommy Lam and Bryce McKelvie of UC Davis. In the consolation quarterfinals they will play Sonoma State's Sullivan Roche and Matt Weeber.

Cilic and Poustie also received a bye into the quarterfinals of the A doubles where they lost 6-3 to Kumara Adavelly and Sem Verbeek of Pacific. Another bye in the consolation quarterfinals puts them into the semifinals against St. Mary's Matthew Campana and Jacob Lagman on Saturday.

In the B doubles Andrada and Breust received a bye into the quarterfinals where they defeated Sonoma State's Christian Francisco and Daniel Holz 6-4. In the semifinals they take on Pacific's Lance Ngo and Bernardo Oliveira.

Pantell and Aremon dropped 6-3 match in the B doubles to a team comprised of Travis Lynds of Sonoma State and Jeremy Moser of Fresno State. Courtesy of two byes they are in the semifinals of the consolation bracket and will play San Francisco's Marco Barretto and Jason Lee.
