RENO, Nev. - Senior defensive end Brock Hekking will compete in the second annual Medal of Honor Bowl this Saturday, Jan. 10, at The Citadel's Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston, S.C. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. (PT) and the game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network.
Hekking will represent the National team and will wear jersey number nine. Proceeds of the 2015 Medal of Honor Bowl go to the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation and the Wounded Warriors of South Carolina. Live stats from the game can be found at this link.
Joining Hekking on the National team from the Mountain West is San Jose State safety Akeem King and Air Force kicker Will Conant. The National team will be coached by Chan Gailey, a former head coach of the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys in the NFL and Georgia Tech in NCAA.
Earning All-MW accolades for the third consecutive season, Hekking finished his Wolf Pack career as one of the program's all-time best pass rushers. Hekking finished fourth in career sacks (22.5) and eighth in tackles for loss (34.5) in program history. The 6-foot-4 native of Vacaville, Calif., posted 56 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and one fumble recovery in 2014. Hekking closed his collegiate career with 186 tackles overall.
The American team won the inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl by a 20-3 margin in 2014.
