Eugene, Oreg. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team fell to The University of Oregon, by a score of 7-0 on Friday afternoon, giving the Ducks a 5-1 overall record. The Pack is now 0-1 on the season, but face the Ducks again tomorrow at 5:00pm PT.
In singles action, Moez Chargui was overcome by Kevin Farin, by a score of 4-6, 7-6(4), 10-6. Andrew Poustie was defeated by Daan Maasland, by a score of 6-0, 6-3. Ryan Andrada went up against Jayson Amos, but came short, by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Junior, Robert Allan battled against Daniel Sardu, but was overcome by a score of 6-3, 6-4. Simon Stevens defeated Freshman, Peter O'Donovan by a score of 6-4, 6-3. In the last match of the day, freshman newcomer, Robert Margitfalvi, was defeated by Cormac Clissold, by a tough score of 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action the Pack struggled to finish. Ducks duo Farin and Amos defeated the senior duo powerhouse for the Pack, Allan and Chargui, by a score of 6-2. Sunago and Poustie went up against Maasland and Sardu but came short, by a score of 6-1. In the last doubles match of the day, the freshman duo O'Donovan and Margitfalvi came short in the match against Clissord and Stevens, by a score of 5-3.
"We had a tough first match against a potential top 20 team" head coach Erik Burton said. " Our number one captain went three strong sets, and we had great battles on courts three through six, but we fortunately get another chance tomorrow to come out and fight"
