Scouting Sacramento State
Sacramento State comes to Reno with a 2-5 overall record after coming off a tough 0-3 stretch at the Sacramento State Invitational.
The Hornets are led by sophomore outside hitter Morgan Stanley, who leads the team in kills (72) and kills per set (2.77). Sophomore middle blocker Madeline Cannon ranks third on the squad in kills with 54 while also posting 15 blocks, good enough for second on the team. The head coach of the Hornets in his seventh season is Ruben Volta.
Willoughby Named Mountain West Player of the Week
After a stellar performance at the Pepperdine Asics Classic to open the 2014 campaign, junior middle blocker
Sam Willoughby was named the Mountain West Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Sept 1.
The Jamul, Calif. native, who was also named to the All-Tournament team for her play in Malibu, totaled 40 kills on a .453 hitting percentage and 11 blocks over the course of the two-day tournament. She is the first Wolf Pack player since
Tessa Lea'ea in 2012 to be given a conference Player of the Week honor.
With 396 kills in her career, Willoughby has the chance to eclipse 400 kills in the Pack's home opener against Sacramento State.

Lyndsey Anderson and senior middle blocker
Tessa Lea'ea have each recorded double-doubles this season, with Anderson already picking up two.
Anderson tallied 43 assists and 16 digs in the five-set loss to Pepperdine, and 36 assists and 11 digs against South Alabama. Lea'ea also recorded a double-double in the win over the Jaguars where she had 15 kills and 11 digs.

Clubs and Organizations Night for Home Opener

RENO, Nev. - The Nevada volleyball team will be hosting Clubs and Organizations Night on Tuesday, Sept. 9, for the home opener against Sacramento State at 6:30 p.m. The team and the athletic department encourages Nevada's clubs and organizations to come support the Wolf Pack. Each club and organization present will receive recognition through an in-game shout out.
The game will also feature a half-time serving contest. Fans will be able to put their skills to the test and see if they have what it takes to run with the Pack.
