RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's tennis team is set to kick off their season as they travel to Berkeley, Calif. for the Cal-Nike Invitational tournament this weekend. The Wolf Pack are led by head coach Guillaume Tonelli who enters his fourth season at Nevada.

Last season the Wolf Pack finished with a 12-10 record overall, while notching a 2-3 mark in the Mountain West. The Pack defeated arch rival UNLV 4-3 at home for the first time in twelve years. Nevada earned the No. 7 seed for the Mountain West Championships, advancing to quarterfinals with a win over Utah State before falling to No. 2 New Mexico.

"We are very excited about watching the players compete, as they have been practicing hard to get ready for this trip" head coach Guillaume Tonelli said. "There will be about 15 teams represented at the tournament, and we will get to play against some of the top schools in the country."

After their final match of the season, the Pack had two players receive MW honors for their play in the 2013-14 season. Michelle Okhremchuk and Sheila Morales-Hidalgo were named to both the MW All-Conference singles and doubles teams. The Pack must find a replacement for Okhremchuk as she posted a 23-9 record last season, and broke a school record with 88 career victories. Morales-Hidalgo joined the Wolf Pack last fall, and has been off to a remarkable start in her collegiate career. She notched a 15-15 record, with a 12-8 mark in dual action, exclusively from court two. Her first win as a member of the Pack came at the Cal-Nike Invitational.

At the Cal-Nike Invitational tournament last fall the Pack notched a total of six victories on day one four singles victories and two doubles victories, leading to four quarterfinal matches. Junior Monika Magusiak led the way for the Pack on day one, as she was 2-0 in singles action. Magusiak recorded her singles victories in the ITA White Singles Main Draw bracket by defeating Ali Dawson of Marquette and Demi Daniels of BYU, both by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Senior Juliette Legendre snatched a victory in her ITA White Singles Consolation bracket draw. In the first round, she defeated Nikki Wolny of Santa Clara in straight sets 6-3and 6-4. Her play in tournament ended after a loss in the quarterfinals.
