DENVER - The Nevada volleyball team saw career-best performances from two players on the final day of the Denver Invitational but the Wolf Pack could not return to campus with a win as the Pack was topped host-school Denver, 3-1, and San Francisco, 3-0, on Saturday.

Sophomore Madison Morell and freshman Madison Foley both set career-highs in kills with 18 in the loss to the Denver while sophomore Lyndsey Anderson's 43 assists tied a season best.

In the first match of the day, the Pioneers took the first frame, 25-20, before the Pack put together an impressive performance in the second set. Morell and senior Tessa Lea'ea each registered five kills and four team blocks gave Nevada a 25-15 victory in the second to tie the match score at 1-1.
Trailing the Pioneers, 21-18, in the third set, a kill from Morell and three Denver attack errors gave the Pack a 22-21 lead. Nevada would lose and regain the lead again but the Pioneers prevailed to claim the third, 27-25.

The Pack would make another run in the fourth as a service ace from junior Sam Willoughby capped a 4-0 run to tie the score at 20-20. There would be six ties and six lead changes after the ace but Nevada could not top the home team as Denver would go on to win the set, 29-27, and the match, 3-1.
In the second match of the day against San Francisco, the Pack led 21-20 on a kill from Morell but could not hold as the Dons took an early 1-0 lead in the match.

Despite three kills and three digs from Morell in the second, San Francisco won the set, 25-14, before completing the sweep in the third, 25-18.

Nevada will return to Reno on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. where the Pack will take on Air Force in its first Mountain West match of 2014.
