RENO, Nev. - Senior quarterback Cody Fajardo has been named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after a masterful performance at Arizona on Saturday, the league office announced Monday morning. It marks the third career weekly accolade - two from the MW and one from the WAC in 2011 - for Fajardo.

The Brea, Calif., native completed 29-of-39 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns, guiding Nevada (2-1) to a near-upset of the Wildcats (3-0) before falling, 35-28, in Tucson. Fajardo set season-high marks in passing yards and passing scores, while eclipsing the 300-yard mark for the seventh time in his career and the second time this season.

In the process, Fajardo surpassed Jeff Rowe (2002-06) for third place in Nevada's career completions chart with 710 and Chris Vargas (1990-93) for sixth in career passing attempts with 1,044. Fajardo, who accounted for 335 yards overall against Arizona, ranks third in program history in total offense with 10,513 career yards.

Fajardo led Nevada on five drives that went at least eight plays and over 70 yards, while helping the Pack pull even at 21-21 at the 6:03 mark in the third quarter and pull within a touchdown at the 6:01 mark in the fourth quarter after trailing by two scores. Fajardo completed 16 of his last 18 passes and finished the game with a 168.9 passer rating.

On the season, Fajardo has completed 70.3 percent of his passes (71-101) for 734 yards and four touchdowns. He ranks 14th in the nation in completions percentage, 28th in total offense and 32nd in passing yards.

Fajardo and the Wolf Pack have a bye week this week before opening Mountain West play by traveling to San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 27, in San Jose, Calif. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (PT) on the CBS Sports Network.
