Mountain West Release COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Nevada senior midfielder
Chrisalyn Fonte earned a selection to the All-Mountain West second team, the league announced Tuesday.
It marks Fonte's second all-conference selection after she also earned the honor following her sophomore season in 2012. During her final collegiate season, Fonte led the Wolf Pack in shots and tallied two goals and an assist to total five points. Both of Fonte's goals this season helped the Pack earn draws against nationally-ranked Denver and in-state rival UNLV.
For her career, the Union City, Calif. native recorded 12 goals, six assists and 30 points. Her 12 career goals ties her for fifth all-time at Nevada and her 30 career points rank her tied for seventh.
San Diego State, the league's regular-season champion, led the way with five all-conference selections, but did not garner any of the major awards. Wyoming's Kaitlyn Lomsnes, who led the Mountain West in goals (10) and points (23), was voted both the Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year after her breakout rookie season. Senior Taryn Rose of Utah State earned the league's Defensive Player of the Year honors and Wyoming's Pete Cuadrado was selected as the Coach of the Year after leading the Cowgirls to a second place finish.
