Oct. 29, 2014 In preparation for the upcoming women's basketball season, the University of Nevada media services department will be putting out a daily `Meet the Pack' web segment, featuring all members of the Wolf Pack women's basketball team. Our third junior to be featured this week is Julia Shelbourn out of Whitewater, Wis. Shelbourn posted career-highs in nearly all statistical categories last season as a sophomore, is very active in community service and is the current President of the Nevada Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
What is your favorite basketball memory?
When I was in fourth grade my dad was our coach and it was the first game I ever played. My dad took me out so other players could play and I was so upset because I didn't want to come out, I was having so much fun.
If you weren't playing basketball, what sport would you play?
I would be waterskiing
Where did you grow up? And what is the best thing about your hometown?
Whitewater, Wis. - we live on the lake so we go on the boat all summer
What do you do when you're not playing basketball?
Study, shadow at the dentist, work on SAAC projects, and go to Lake Tahoe
What is your favorite part about the game?
There are no limits, you can work as hard as you want to become as good of a player as you want.
What do you like most about Nevada?
The people/friends I have made and the support of the community with Wolf Pack athletics
What is the most interesting thing that you want Wolf Pack fans to know about you?
I want to become a dentist so I love job shadowing every week at the dentist.
Finish the following statement: I'm excited for the upcoming season because…
We have been working very hard so it is time to reach our goals.
