RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada head women's basketball coach Jane Albright has announced seniors
Mimi Mungedi and
Emily Burns and junior
Terilyn Moe as the team's captains for the 2014-15 season.
"I'm elated that these three were chosen captains of our team," Albright said. "We have a lot of leaders on our team but I believe that these three carry a lot of representation in the way they lead. Their styles are very different, yet effective, and we look forward to them helping our team reach their full potential."
Mungedi, the MW Co-Defensive Player of the Year, set a Nevada single-season blocking record last year and is 34 blocks shy of establishing the career mark. Burns, another blocking threat, enters her senior year in the top-10 all-time in blocks and finished last season ranked in the top-15 in the league in rebounding. As a sophomore, Moe averaged double-digits with 10.9 points per game and finished the year as one of the MW's top free throw shooters.
For Burns this marks her third consecutive season as a team captain, having also served as captain as a sophomore and junior. This is the first year as team captain for Mungedi and Moe.
