Oct. 17, 2014 RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team advanced freshmen Mile Cilic and Robert Margitfalvi on day three of the 2014 USTA/ITA Division I Mountain Regional tournament.
In singles action, Mile Cilic and Robert Margitfalvi dominated the court. Cilic started off his day by defeating Idaho's Mark Kovacs, by a score of 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. In his next round of action he dominated Idaho State's Jamey Swiggart, by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Cilic will play in the quarterfinals tomorrow against BYU's Aidan Carrazedo. Margitfalvi's day on the court was remarkable. First defeating New Mexico State's Germain Degardin by default of injury. In his second round of action, he defeated NAU's Felix Schumann, by a score of 1-4. Margitfalvi will play in the quarterfinals tomorrow against Denver University's David Fox.
Senior Moez Chargui and junior Andrew Poustie had tough losses on the day. Chargui was defeated in the semifinals by no. 15 seed Cedric Willems, by a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Poustie was overcome in the semifinals by no. two seed Sam Iftikhar, by a score of 7-5, 6-4.
The Pack will start back up tomorrow for day four of the tournament.
