RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team started off day one at the 2014 USTA/ITA Division I Mountain Regional tournament, on the right foot. With nine victories in the singles bracket and three victories in the doubles bracket, they will head into day two with great momentum.

In Singles play, Freshman Peter O'Donovan defeated Boise State's Brian Foley, by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in round 128. In round 64, O'Donovan fell to New Mexico's no. six seed, Hayden Sabatka, by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Junior, Ryan Andrada had a big day, defeating Utah State's Tomas Cosmai, by a score of 6-1, 6-4, and Air Force's Jack McCullers, by a score of 6-2, 6-3.

Freshman, Mile Cilic battled and came up vicotrious against Utah State's Matt Sweet, by a score of 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. In Cilic's next round of play he was defeated by Denver University's no. 25 seed Aidan Talcott. As for Moez Chargui, he had a great day, starting off with a bye advancing him to round 64, then dominating the Washington State's no. 10 seed Stefan Cooper, by a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Senior, Fernando Sunago came up with a win against Air Force's Max Olson, by a score of 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 in round 128. In round 64 Sunago was defeated by BYU's no. three seed Francis Sargeant, by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-1.

Junior, Andrew Poustie had an outstanding day on the courts. In round 128 he defeated BYU's Jeremy Bourgeois, by a score of 6-0, 6-4. As he advanced to round 64, Poustie had a groundbreaking victory over Denver University's no. eight seed Diogo Rocha, by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

In doubles action, Billy Bumgardner and Mile Cilic defeated Utah State's Marcus Fritz and Andrew Nakajima, by a score of 8-3. Andrew Poustie and Fernando Sunago defeated Montana State's Kellen Bates and Andre Napolitana, by a score of 8-7. The last win on the day came from duo Robert Allan and Ryan Andrada as they took on New Mexico State's Charles Baron and Germain Degardin, by a score of 8-2.

The Pack will start back up tomorrow for day two of the tournament.
