Mountain West Video Release

RENO, Nev. - With the release of the 2014-15 Mountain West women's basketball preseason poll, the University of Nevada women's basketball team is slated to finish fifth. The voting is conducted by the league's 11 head coaches and select women's basketball media from around the conference.

Colorado State, last year's regular season champions, received 21 first-place votes to earn the top-spot in the poll. Boise State garnered four first-place votes and was tabbed second, while Wyoming collected three first-place votes to rank third. The only other team projected to finish higher than the Wolf Pack is last season's MW tournament champions, Fresno State.

In-state rival UNLV enters the poll one spot behind Nevada in sixth, while San Diego State and Utah State received the seventh and eighth spots, respectively. New Mexico comes into the preseason poll ranked ninth, San Jose State notched the 10th spot and Air Force rounds out the list in 11th.

Nevada returns 11 student-athletes from last year's squad and adds five newcomers to the program. Highlighting the list of returners are three starters from 2013-14 in seniors Mimi Mungedi and Emily Burns and junior Terilyn Moe.

For the second consecutive year, Wyoming senior forward Kayla Woodward was tabbed as the Preseason All-Conference Player of the Year. Woodward is a three-time All-Mountain West selection and ranked among the top-10 last year in five league categories. Woodward is joined on the preseason all-conference team with Deanna Weaver (Boise State), Ellen Nystrom (Colorado State), Alex Sheedy (Fresno State) and Ta'Rea Cunnigan (San Jose State). McKynzie Fort of San Diego State received Preseason Freshman of the Year honors, while Camille Redmon of Boise State was named the Preseason Newcomer of the Year.

Nevada hosts the Academy of the Arts for an exhibition game at Lawlor Events Center on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Regular season action gets underway the following Friday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. with a home contest against UC Santa Barbara.
