Freshman Rhyne Jones shot a 4-under 67 on Friday and moved into the top 10 along with teammate Ryan Mulvany heading into the final round of the Pacific Fall Invitational.
Jones open Thursday with a 72 but his 67 has him tied for eighth place, one shot behind the senior Mulvany, who backed up Thursday's 70 with a 68 in round two. Nicholas Smits is tied for 26th, five back of Jones. Brian Knoll (T50th) and Gustavo Chuang (T55th) round out the Nevada contingent.
As a team, Nevada improved by three strokes on Friday with a score of 283. The Pack is tied for sixth place, but is just seven shots out of second place as BYU is running away with the team lead, 16 strokes ahead of second-place Saint Mary's.
The final round at Stockton Country Club is Saturday.
