RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada football coach Chris Ault received a visit Monday from the commanding officer and some crew from the USS Nevada, a ballistic missile submarine.

Ault visited with Cmdr. Alan Schrader, Master Chief Matthew Tresch and crew members from the submarine, which has a homeport of Bangor, Wash. Schrader presented Ault with a commemorative photo collage and other gifts during the visit, which included a quick tour of Cashell Football Center. Ault's office and the Cashell Football Center feature various pictures and memorabilia off the USS Nevada sent from the submarine's officers and crew.

"When you have a chance to visit with the commander and some of the "Blue Crew" of the most powerful warship in the world, our state motto 'Battle Born' rings loud and clear," Ault said. "We talk about the USS Nevada to our team every year just to remind them of all they do for our country. It's always exciting and most of all very meaningful. God Bless the USS Nevada and all its crew - we're in good hands."

Ault and the Wolf Pack football program have developed a strong relationship with the USS Nevada and over the years. The crew provided a rally video for the Nevada team prior to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl at the end of the 2010 football season.

Schrader and the crew invited Ault to tour the submarine this summer.
