WAC Championships, Day One 
HENDERSON, Nev. - Senior Kevin Lucas shot a 73 to lead Nevada in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Monday at Rio Secco Golf Club.
Lucas shot 1 over for the day and is tied for 12th after the first round of the 54-hole tournament. Taylor Knoll shot 75 and is tied for 20th with Zak Griffiths a shot back and tied for 23rd and Brian Knoll at 77 and tied for 25th. Freshman Gustavo Chuang injured his wrist hitting a recovery shot out of the desert on the eighth hole and played the final 10 holes with a swollen wrist. He finished with a 90.
"I was a little disappointed with our course management today," second-year coach Jacob Wilner said. "But I am confident that our guys will learn from their mistakes and make the right adjustments."
Nevada is sixth in the team race after a 301 in the first round. The Pack trails co-leaders Idaho and Fresno State (287) by 14 strokes. San Jose State is three back at 290, followed by New Mexico State (293), Utah State (294) and then Nevada. Hawaii and Louisiana Tech are tied for seventh at 304.
Idaho's Sean McMullen carded the best score of the day with a 7-under par 65 to lead by three strokes. Idaho had two players in the top-four as Jarred Bossio shot a 2-under 70. Two other players shot in the 60s, including Utah State's Tanner Higham (68) and San Jose State's Jay Myers (69).
