RENO, Nev. - Former Wolf Pack quarterback Jeff Rowe has joined the University of Nevada athletics department in a fundraising role.
A Reno native, Rowe returns to Nevada after playing four seasons in the National Football League and pursuing his master's degree at the University of Washington. Rowe will earn his master's degree in June from Washington's College of Education's Master of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership.
Rowe will work to identify new donors and increase annual donations to the Pack Educational Fund and the Blitz, Nevada's football fundraising club. He will also work closely with the newly established Wolf Pack Varsity Club to help reconnect former student-athletes and staff with the athletics department.
"We're thrilled with Jeff Rowe's return to our program. Jeff is a Reno native, and I know he's pretty excited to come back home and begin his career in athletics administration here at his alma mater," said Rory Hickok, Nevada's senior associate athletics director for external operations. "Who better to reach out to the community and help tell the story of Wolf Pack Athletics than an accomplished former student-athlete like Jeff?"
A four-year starter at quarterback, Rowe played for the Wolf Pack from 2002-06 and still ranks in the Nevada career top 10 for passing yards, touchdowns, attempts and completions. He helped lead the Wolf Pack to its first Western Athletic Conference title in 2005 as well as a pair of bowl game appearances in 2005 and 2006. He was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year in 2005 and won the Golden Helmet Award as the team's MVP in 2006. Rowe earned his bachelor's degree in general studies in December of 2006.
Rowe was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft and played for four years, spending time with the Bengals, the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.
Prior to coming to Nevada, Rowe attended McQueen High School in Reno, leading his team to the state title game in 2001. He was also part of the 2000 state championship team.
