Final Stats
PROVO, Utah - The University of Nevada women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Brigham Young University Saturday.
The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 0-2, while BYU improved to 2-2.
In doubles play, the team of Sophie Stevens and Gabriela Eufrasio won at the third position. They defeated Lisa Waldron and Aubrey Paul 8-4. The victory was not enough to earn the Pack the doubles point, however, as BYU won at the first and second positions to go up 1-0 in the match.
Michelle Okhremchuk won her first match of the dual season at the No. 1 singles position. She bested Desiree Tran in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Nevada earned its second point at the No. 6 singles position, where Rymma Maslova not only won her first match of the dual season, but the first of her career as well. Maslova joined the Pack at the semester break, competing twice before Saturday. She was a part of the Nevada squad during the Beach Tennis Winter Invite two weeks ago, and fell in singles play Friday at No. 52 Utah.
She won by retirement Saturday, as Waldron could not continue past the third game due to injury.
Two first sets went to tiebreakers, with the Pack falling narrowly in each. BYU went on to take both matches.
Nevada will look for its first win Sunday, when it travels to Weber State to take on the Wildcats at 9 a.m.
