SANTA BARBARA -- The University of Nevada Men's tennis team had a great opening day Friday, earning five wins at the UCSB Invitational.
Victor Ouvrard led the way for the Wolf Pack in singles Flight A action, winning in the third set of his match against Derek Klein of Cal Poly 6-7, 6-4, 6-0.
Newcomer Andrew Poustie also scored an impressive victory in his singles Flight A match by defeating Ziad Sultan of Santa Barbara 6-2, 6-2.
The third Wolf Pack singles victory came from Ryan Andrada, as he cruised past Adam Luba of UC Davis 6-1, 6-0.
The Wolf Pack also scored two doubles victories, first from the team of Poustie and Moez Echargui. In their doubles flight A match, they routed Jordan Smith and Nikhil Jayashankar of California 8-1.
In their doubles flight B match, Ouvrard and partner Fernando Sunago posted another Wolf Pack win. They defeated the team of Kona Luu and Ganesh Alagappan from the University of California, San Diego 8-6.
Play resumes Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif. with two rounds of singles play and one round of doubles action.
