FRESNO, Calif. - Opening the tournament season on the road, the University of Nevada men's tennis team won a total of seven matches at the Bulldog Classic Friday.
"These men did extremely well today under very harsh conditions," head coach Erik Burton said. "It was over 90 degrees all day and they fought extremely hard."
Three of Nevada's wins came on the doubles court, while four were earned in singles play.
Each of the seven Wolf Pack players that made the trip to Fresno earned at least one victory, with two players earning multiple victories.
Perhaps the most notable win of the day for Nevada came on the doubles court, where Victor Ouvrard and Moez Echargui defeated Alex Rovello and Daniel Sardu from the University of Oregon 8-6.
"We are gaining great experience and can't wait to continue with more singles play tomorrow," Burton said.
Senior WessimDerbel is the No. 1 seed in tomorrow's singles B flight, and will lead the rest of his teammates in two more days of competition, with the tournament concluding on Sunday.
