RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada (2-10, 0-1 WAC) volleyball team dropped its Western Athletic Conference opener to Fresno State (6-7, 1-0 WAC) 3-2 tonight at the Virginia Street Gym. The Bulldogs won by scores of 21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-10. With the loss the Pack is 2-10 on the season and 0-1 in WAC play. FS improved to 6-7 and 1-0 in conference play.

Nevada led 2-1 after three sets of play before the Bulldogs won the fourth set 25-19 to even the match a two sets apiece. In the deciding fifth set FS took an early three-point lead at 4-1. The Pack got within a point at 8-7 but FS went on to win 15-10 to take the match 3-2.

Junior middle blocker Janelle Batista led the Pack with 17 kills and hit .500 in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Grace Anxo totaled 11 kills and added nine digs. Setter Tatiana Santiago dished out 47 assists and libero Kelly Chang finished with a match-high 18 digs.

Korrin Wild topped FS with a match-high 23 kills while Jaimee-Lee Morrow (12) and Brianna Clarke (11) also reached double figures. Barbara Alcantara posted a double-double with 56 assists and 11 digs. Libero Christina Lee finished with a team-high 12 digs for the Bulldogs.

Nevada hit .228 and FS .289 in the match. The Bulldogs totaled 12.5 blocks compared to six for Wolf Pack.

Nevada travels to Hawai`i for a WAC match with the Rainbow Wahine on Thursday and play at San Jose State on Saturday.
