MONTEREY, Calif. -- Senior Kevin Lucas fired a 69 in the final round of the Saint Mary's Invitational on Tuesday and finished in a tie 10th place to lead the Wolf Pack men's golf team.

Lucas entered the final round tied for 24th after rounds of 77 and 72 on day one of the tournament on Monday. But he tamed Bayonet Golf Course with the second-lowest round of the day and moved all the way up to a tie for 10th. It marks the best finish for Lucas since a tie for fourth at the Fresno State Lexus Classic last spring.

Lucas and the Wolf Pack took seventh place as a team, four strokes behind Loyola Marymount and five back of fifth-place Xavier

Nevada's young squad had its struggles in the final round. Sophomore Brian Knoll carded the best round of the rest of the team at 76 and he finished at 12 over with a 228, one stroke behind Gustavo Chuang, who finished tied for 33rd in his first collegiate event. Fellow freshman Taylor Knoll tied for 42nd and Zak Griffiths tied for 63rd.

Freshman Andrew Cornella, who was competing as an individual, tied for 58th.
