ERIE, Colo. - A pair of freshmen are leading the charge for the Nevada men's golf team at the Mark Simpson Invitational hosted by Colorado.

Competing in his first collegiate tournament, Zak Griffiths fired rounds of 70 and 72 and is tied for 11th place at 2 under par following the first two rounds of the tournament on Monday. Fellow freshman Taylor Knoll shot 72 and 74 and is tied for 31st overall. Kevin Lucas is a shot back of Knoll, whose brother,?Brian, is two shots back at 148 for the tournament. Gavin?Kwon rounds out the Pack team at 156.

The host school, Colorado, is running away with the team and individual races with 18 holes to play. The Buffs have a seven-shot lead over San Diego on the team side while Beau Schoolcraft has a three-stroke lead heading into the final round after a pair of 66s.

The final round at Colorado National Golf Club is scheduled for Tuesday.
