RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada head men's basketball coach David Carter announced today that Zac Claus is the newest assistant coach for the Wolf Pack. Claus is no stranger to the program having spent the last six years as the program's Director of Basketball Operations.
"Zac has shown great dedication, a relentless work ethic and has been a valuable part of the Nevada basketball program over the past six seasons," Carter said. "He knows our system and has experience working with our players although in a different capacity. ?I'm very excited to have him on the floor coaching."
"My family and I are very excited about this opportunity and grateful to Coach Carter for providing me with the chance to advance on the staff here at Nevada," said Claus.
Claus came to Nevada after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Sacramento State. Prior to Sacramento State, Claus spent two seasons at Portland State, one as the team's director of operations (2000-01) and the second as an assistant coach (2001-02). He was also an assistant varsity coach and head JV coach at Nebraska Wesleyan in his hometown of Lincoln, Neb., in 1998-99, and spent the 1999-2000 season as an assistant at Austin College.
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications from Eastern Washington University in 1998. Claus played his final two years of college basketball at Eastern Washington, where he was a team captain and two-time Big Sky Academic team selection. He started his collegiate career at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska.
Claus and his wife, Toni, have three daughters, Peyton, Morgan and Addison.
