RENO, Nev. - The kickoff time for the annual Battle for the Fremont Cannon between Nevada and UNLV has been moved to 4:05 p.m., the school announced today.

The Oct. 8 game, which is Nevada's home opener, was originally slated for a 1:05 p.m. start but has been moved in response to feedback from Wolf Pack fans.

"With all of the local youth football and soccer games as well as community events that take place on Saturdays, our fans have told us that this kind of a time slot might be more family-friendly than an early afternoon kickoff or night game," said Keith Hackett, Nevada's senior associate athletics director for internal operations.

The Nevada athletics department has been soliciting comments and suggestions from season ticketholders and has held focus group sessions throughout the offseason. The school has incorporated a number of those suggestions into improving the gameday experience at Mackay Stadium.

The remaining five home games this season are still slated for a 1:05 p.m. kickoff.
