RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada Volleyball program will host a multitude of free instructional clinics at local middle schools this month aimed at popularizing volleyball in the Reno area. The clinics are open to boys and girls in middle school or younger and will be held at Pine Middle School (May 19, 4:30-6:30 p.m.), Mendive Middle School (May 20, 2:30-4:30 p.m.) and at B.D. Billinghurst Middle School (May 24, 2-5 p.m.).

Additional camps are being planned at other schools and future dates will be announced when they are finalized.

Nevada Volleyball Assistant Coach Nate Hallet, who is running the camps, said it is important to help kids maintain an interest in volleyball to advance the sport at the high school and collegiate level.

“With the resources we have at the University, there is not a reason why we should not be able to increase the popularity of the sport,” Hallet said.

Hallet also said the middle school clinics will give all students the chance to attend.

“The clinics are great because we’re bringing the game of volleyball to the schools and students who normally would not be able to come to camps at the University will get to experience them,” Hallet said.
