RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada head basketball coach David Carter and his staff has announced the Wolf Pack's 2010-11 team awards.  The Pack went 13-19 last season with a team that was dominated by 10 first-year players.

Junior forward Dario Hunt earned three team honors including being named the Most Valuable Player as voted by the players.  Hunt averaged near a double-double, scoring 12.4 points and grabbed a Western Athletic Conference best 9.7 rebounds per game.  The WAC All-Defensive team selection was named the Pack's Best Defensive Player and shared the Rock Award with freshman Deonte Burton. He led the conference in blocked shots averaging 1.8 per game.  The Rock Award is annually presented the player who represents the identity and foundation of the team as chosen by the coaches and team.  The Colorado Springs, Colo. native was a second-team All-WAC selection and named to the NABC District 6 second team.

Burton received numerous honors for his play this season including being named the WAC Freshman of the Year. He is the fourth Nevada player to earn the prestigious honor.  He was also selected to the WAC All-Newcomer and honorable mention squads after averaging 13.7 points and a team-high 3.5 assists per game.

Nevada's lone senior, Adam Carp was named the Most Inspirational Player.  Carp was in his fifth season in the program and earned his undergraduate degree and began work on a master's degree this year.

Freshman Kevin Panzer was named the team's Most Improved Player.  The 6-9 forward averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds playing in all 32 games and earned 10 starts.  Panzer scored a season best 11 points in the Pack's victory over Portland State and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds at Houston.

Sophomore Patrick Nyeko earned the Sixth Man Award for his play off the bench for the Pack.  Nyeko saw increased playing time once WAC play began averaging nearly 14 minutes a game.  A solid defender he provided Nevada with a spark off the bench.
