BOISE, Idaho - The third seeded University of Nevada women's tennis team defeated Hawai'i 4-1, in the first round of the WAC Tournament Thursday.
The win, which was Nevada's 12th dual win of the year, will match it up with No. 75 Fresno State in the second round of the Tournament, Friday, at noon.
Against the Rainbow Wahine Thursday, Nevada came back from an early 1-0 deficit to get the victory. After dropping the first two doubles matches, the Wolf Pack roared back with five straight individual match wins.
The beginning of the turnaround came at No. 2 singles, where Michelle Okhremchuk, playing in her first WAC Tournament match, dispatched Barbara Pinterova 6-2, 6-1 to get Nevada on the board.
Wins at No. 1 singles by Florence De Vrye, No. 4 singles by Emma Verberne and No. 6 singles by Sophie Stevens rounded out the four points needed to get the overall win for Nevada.
De Vrye came from behind, winning in three sets, while Verberne and Stevens earned straight-set victories.
The Pack fell to Fresno State 5-2 when the two teams met earlier in the year.
