PROVO, Utah. – The University of Nevada men’s golf team tied for eighth at the Ping Golf Cougar Classic hosted by BYU on Saturday.

The Wolf Pack shot a 3 over 291 as a team in the final round on Saturday at the 18-team event played at Riverside Country Club.

Senior Scott Smith tied for 15th individually after a 75 in the final round. Kevin Lucas carded an even-par 72 on Saturday and moved up to a tie for 29th, along with teammate Andrew Augustyniak.

Gavin Kwon shot the Pack’s low round of the day with a 2 under 70 and tied for 62nd while Chris Cho tied for 68th.

Colorado State won the individual title by four strokes over UNLV. Among WAC schools, Idaho was fifth while Nevada finished ahead of Fresno State, Utah State and Boise State.

The event was the Pack’s final tune-up before the WAC championships the first week of May in Henderson, Nev.
