LAKESIDE, Calif. – Senior Scott Smith shot an even-par 72 and took second place at the Barona Collegiate Cup on Friday.
Smith entered the final round one shot off the pace set by Glen Scher of UC Santa Barbara. Both players shot even par in the final round with Scher taking medalist honors and Smith tying for second place in the tournament, which was hosted by San Diego State.
Nevada finished fourth as a team after a final round 386 in the play-six, count-five event. The Wolf Pack entered the final round in third place and fell back one spot to fourth in the 16-team event.
Senior Chris Cho capped a strong tournament with tie for 20th overall. Kevin Lucas tied for 32nd after a final-round 78. Gavin Kwon tied for 49th and Phillip Snow came in a tie for 59th. Brian Knoll had a tough final round and fell into a tie for 86.
The Wolf Pack will return to action April 4-5 at the Cowboy Classic hosted by Wyoming.
