MORAGA, Calif.  - The University of Nevada women's basketball team picked up its first-ever victory in the post-season, winning at Saint Mary's 65-62 in the first round of the 2011 Women's National Invitational Tournament.  Nevada continued to build on its school record for wins, improving to 22-10 while Saint Mary's finishes its season at 19-13.

The game was a bitterly fought battle throughout as there were 10 ties and 13 lead changes.  The Pack shot 42.9 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc while holding the Gaels to 29.6 percent and 23.5 from beyond the arc.  The Pack tied a season-low with 11 turnovers while collecting six blocks and six steals.

Senior captain Tahnee Robinson led all scorers with 22 points hitting 4-6 from beyond the arc.  She has led all scorers in a game 26 of the 30 games she's played, and the nation's eighth-best scorer also had five rebounds, and went 4-4 from the free throw line.  Junior Kayla Williams collected her 13th double-double of her career, eighth of the season, with 14 points and 10 rebounds.  Senior Johnna Ward scored 10 points with two three-pointers of her own.

The win marks the first ever for the Wolf Pack in a post-season tournament, after going 0-2 in the WNIT in previous seasons.  Nevada will now host its first-ever game on Sunday, March 20 at Lawlor Events Center.  The Pack will take on the University of Southern California at 2 p.m.  The Trojans defeated UC Santa Barbara in a home game, 67-64 on Thursday. 

Tickets for Nevada's WNIT second-round game can be purchased beginning Friday at either the Nevada ticket office located in Legacy Hall or at  Lawlor Events Center starting at 10 a.m. Friday.  Tickets are also available by calling 348-PACK, option 2.  Prices will be $9 for adults, $6 for youth eighth grade and younger and seniors 65 and older and $5 for Nevada students with a college ID.
