RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's basketball team will host its final game of the season at Lawlor Events Center Saturday when WAC leader Louisiana Tech comes into town. Nevada will honor its seniors prior to the game which begins at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
Nevada (19-8, 8-6 WAC) will host Louisiana Tech (21-5, 13-0 WAC) in search for the program's first 20-win season. The Wolf Pack is just 5-19 all-time against the Lady Techsters, having lost the first 12 straight of the series from 1987-2006. Jan. 18, 2007 was the first time the Pack ever won against LA Tech and did it in Ruston 55-54 under then-head coach Kim Gervasoni. Since then, Nevada is 6-15, going 4-2 against LA Tech in Reno.
Anyone who attends the game Monday night will be able to get their ticket stamped to be able to redeem it for a free, one-topping medium pizza from any local Domino's location. Should Nevada defeat the Lady Techsters, that offer will be upgraded to a free large, one-topping pizza. The free pizza offer is available on Tuesday, Feb. 29 only.
Nevada will be working to hold on to the fourth-place spot after suffering a tough 63-59 loss at home to New Mexico State on Saturday. The Wolf Pack will have to fight off charging Idaho and New Mexico State teams for the four-seed for the WAC Tournament next week if it hopes to earn one of the first-round, top-four byes in the tournament.
