The University of Nevada women's basketball team ended a three-game road trip with a 76-74 loss to Cal State Fullerton Saturday evening.
With the loss, Nevada drops to 2-7 on the season, while Cal State Fullerton improves to 4-5.
Nevada and Cal State Fullerton began the game close as the two teams exchanged leads in the first six minutes of play. Senior Kate Kevorken got off to a great start, connecting on 3-5 of her attempts from downtown. The Titans took charge and got out to a nine point lead, powered by Megan Richardson's 17 first half points. The Titans shot a perfect 11-11 from the free throw in the half and took an 11 point lead into the intermission.
The Wolf Pack went on a run mid way through the second half, chopping the Titans 12 point lead to two with five minutes left in the game. Nevada found its way to the free throw line often and built up a six point lead at the three minute mark. Cal State Fullerton answered back by forcing Nevada into making turnovers to get within one point with 20 seconds left. The Titans scored on an inbounds play to go ahead leaving Nevada with an opportunity to score in the final seconds. The Pack moved the ball around looking to get someone open before they were forced into a turnover. The Titans knocked down a free throw to go up by two and then blocked Danika Sharp's three point attempt from half court to claim the win.
Senior Kate Kevorken led Nevada with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Nevada will return home to face Oregon at Lawlor Events Center, Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
