Following a 71-67 loss at UNLV on Monday, Nevada hosts Pacific on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. The game with Tigers is the first of three consecutive home games for the Wolf Pack.

SERIES?HISTORY: Pacific leads the series 52-44. The Tigers won last year's meeting 64-53 in a Dick's Sporting Goods Preseason NIT game played in Los Angeles. Pacific has won the last four games and seven of the last 10 meetings. Nevada's last win was 60-53 on Dec. 16, 2006.
UP?NEXT: Nevada hosts Prairie View A&M on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The game with the Panthers is the Pack's first game in the Chicago Invitational Challenge. Nevada will host Longwood on Nov. 22 then travel to Chicago for a matchup with BYU on Nov. 25 and take on either Bradley or Wisconsin on Nov. 26. All four games are part of the challenge.
ABOUT?THE?PACIFIC?TIGERS - Pacific (1-0) began the 2011-12 season with a 75-63 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. The Tigers are under the direction of Bob Thomason who is in his 24th season at Pacific. Thomason has amassed a record of 404-290 during his tenure.
Forward Tevin Harris (6-6) came off the bench and led three Pacific players in double figures in the opener finishing with 14 points and six rebounds. Guards Andrew Bock (6-2) and Rodrigo De Souza (6-2) had 13 and 11 points respectively. Center Khalil Kelley (6-8) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and contributed eight points.
The?Tigers shot 45.6 percent and held CSUMB to 44.6 percent. From behind the arc Pacific made 10-of-30 shots (33.3 percent). Pacific had 39 rebounds, two more that CSUMB's 37.
DOBBS TO PERFORM AT HALFTIME THURSDAY - Nike N7 ambassador and slam-dunk innovator Kenny Dobbs will perform at halftime of the Wolf Pack's Nov. 17 men's basketball game vs. Pacific as part of the University of Nevada's partnership with Nike N7 and celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
A member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Dobbs is recognized internationally as the best basketball slam-dunk artist in the world. He has toured with the NBA and Sprite as a celebrity dunker, performing in front of sold-out stadiums during halftime shows, celebrity games and NBA All-Star Weekend. He has also served three years as the chairman on the Arizona State Youth Advisory Council for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention and has founded the Uprise Youth Movement to empower youth.
HUNT BREAKS?NEVADA BLOCKS?RECORD - Senior forward Dario Hunt broke the Nevada career blocks record in the season opener versus Missouri State with the 193rd block his career. Hunt came into the season tied with Nick Fazekas (2004-07) with 192.
Hunt had six blocks in the Pack's 66-60 loss to New Mexico State in the WAC?Tournament last year to move into a tie with Fazekas. Hunt's 193 blocks have come in 102 games while Fazekas' 192 came in 131 games. Hunt has three of the top five seasons in school history with his best year of 67 during the 2008-09 season ranking third and is the freshman record. In 2009-10 he had 66 which are fourth on the list and his 59 last year ranks fifth.
Hunt is also climbing the Nevada rebounds career chart with his 710 ranking seventh. His nine in the MSU?game moved over 700 for his career. Ric Herrin (1989-93) is sixth with 815 rebounds.
BURTON FIFTH PACK PLAYER TO EARN PRESEASON WAC POY NOD - Point guard Deonte Burton became the fifth Nevada player and sixth overall to be selected as the WAC?Coaches' Preseason Player of the Year. Kirk Snyder (2003-04), Nick Fazekas (2005-06 & 2006-07), Armon Johnson (2008-09) and Luke Babbitt (2009-10) were all preseason players of the year with Fazekas earning the honor twice. Snyder, Fazekas?(twice) and Babbitt all earned the honor at the end of the season when chosen as the preseason player of the year. Like Burton, Babbitt and Johnson were both sophomores when they earned the preseason honor.
A?Nevada player has been named the season ending WAC?Player of the Year in five of the last eight seasons with Fazekas grabbing the honor three consecutive seasons from 2003-2007.
Johnson and Babbitt are currently on the roster of the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers. Snyder was first round pick of the Utah Jazz and Fazekas was chosen in the second round by the Dallas Mavericks. Both played for several teams in the NBA.
Burton was the fourth Pack player to earn WAC?Freshman of the Year honors last year when he averaged 13.7 points and 3.5 assists per game. ?Ramon Sessions (2005), Johnson (2008) and Babbitt (2009) were the previous Nevada players named WAC?Freshman of the Year. Sessions, a second round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks, is currently on the roster of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
WOLF PACK LAYUPS
Nevada is 0-2 to start the season for the first time since 1993-94, when the Wolf Pack began the season 0-4 under head coach Pat Foster.
Sophomore point guard Deonte Burton scored a career-high 28 points, four more than his 24 at Louisiana Tech last year in the UNLV game on Monday. Burton scored 20 of Nevada's 29 first half points. The 20 points is his career-high for a half.
The 28 points for Burton was his 25th career double-figure scoring game and the 11th time in his career he has led the Pack in scoring. It was also his seventh 20-point game at Nevada.
Burton made 11-of-14 free throws at UNLV. The 11 free throws equaled his career-high set versus Fresno State in the WAC Tournament last season.
Burton's 28 points, 11 free throws and 14 free throws attempted are all highs in the WAC?this season.
Burton is eighth in the WAC averaging 16.5 points per game.
Sophomore guard Jerry Evans, Jr. grabbed a game and career-high 12 rebounds in the season opener versus Missouri State. Evans tied with Dario Hunt for team honors at UNLV with his seven rebounds. Evans has led the Pack in rebounding five times in his career.
Evans is tied for fourth in rebounding in the WAC averaging 9.5 per game. Hunt is averaging eight per game which is tied for seventh in the conference.
Junior guard Malik Story scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half at UNLV. It was the 26th time Story has scored in double figures.
Evans, Jr. and senior Dario Hunt led Nevada with seven rebounds each. It was 38th time Hunt has led the Pack in rebounding and fifth for Burton.
After 10 first half turnovers Nevada did not commit a turnover in the second half at UNLV.
Sophomore forward Kevin Panzer is third on the team averaging 8.5 points per game off the bench. Panzer led the Pack with 10 points in the season opener versus Missouri State. He is eighth in the WAC?shooting 58.3 percent from the field.
Senior forward Olek Czyz, who averaged 12.3 points last season, is scoring 2.5 points per game after two games. Czyz has yet to make a field going 0-for-7 from the field and 5-for-10 from the free throw line.
Senior forward Dario Hunt is averaging six points per game thru two games after averaging 12.4 points per game last season. Hunt is shooting 12.5 percent and made 50.9 percent of his opportunities a year ago.
After two games Nevada is shooting just 29.4 percent from the field, 24.5 percent from 3-point range and 58.7 percent from the free throw line.
