RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada (3-13, 1-4 WAC) volleyball team swept Louisiana Tech (9-12, 0-5 WAC) by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-9 to earn its first Western Athletic Conference victory of the season. The win snapped a five-match losing skid as the Wolf Pack improved to 3-13 on the season and 1-4 in WAC play. The Lady Techsters fell to 9-12 overall and remained winless in conference play at 0-5.

Nevada took control of the first set early jumping to an 8-1 advantage. The Pack led by as much as 12 points in the 25-14 victory. Senior Erin Garvey and junior Janelle Batista each had four kills in the first set. The Pack hit .414 and held LA Tech to an attack percentage of zero.

There were five ties and two lead changes in set two but Nevada held on for the 25-19 victory to take 2-0 advantage in the match. Freshman Tessa Lea`ea topped the Pack with four kills in set two. The Pack once again hit .414 and the Lady Techsters hit .250.

Set three was all Wolf Pack as the team won easily 25-9 to sweep the Lady Techsters. Junior Kelly Chang served the final seven points of the set and Garvey contributed five kills. The Pack hit and amazing .737 and held LA Tech to a negative .136 attack percentage.

Garvey led Nevada with 11 kills and hit .786 in the match. Senior setter Tatiana Santiago finished with a match-high 39 assists. Elissa Ji and Chang both reached double figures in digs with 11 and 10 respectively.
Marcella Braz topped the Lady Techsters with 12 kills and setter Bianca Bin had 23 assists. Libero Stephany Salas had six digs for LA Tech.

Nevada hit .494 in the match and LA Tech .049. The Pack dominated the blocking with 10 compared to one for the Lady Techsters. Garvey led Nevada with five blocks in the match.

Next action for Nevada is two WAC road matches at Idaho on Thursday and at Utah State on Saturday.
