The Nevada Athletics Department and Peppermill Resort Spa Casino will partner to host the Peppermill Holiday Classic. The Women's basketball tournament will take place on December 29-30 at Lawlor Events Center. In addition to Nevada, the classic will feature Mississippi State from the South Eastern Conference, Oklahoma State from the Big 12, and Long Island University of the Northeast Conference.
"We are very grateful to the Peppermill for sponsoring this tournament."Head coach Jane Albright said. "Their generosity allows us to showcase some of the best basketball in the country. My team and I are excited to compete in such a field of talent and trust the Northern Nevada community will enjoy watching the games."
Nevada will open the classic Thursday, December 29 against Long Island at 2p.m. Oklahoma State and Mississippi State will play in the second game at 4 p.m. In day two of the classic, the consolation game will take place at 5 p.m. followed by the championship game at 7 p.m.

"Having such high profile teams as Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Long Island University come to Reno to square off against the Nevada women's basketball team ensures that four exciting games will be played over this two-day period. The Peppermill Holiday Classic is the second of two tournaments the Nevada women's basketball team will host this season. The annual John Ascuaga's Nugget Classic will take place Thanksgiving weekend on Friday- Saturday, Nov. 25-26 at Lawlor Events Center. The Wolf Pack will be joined with Penn State and Iowa State who played in the NCAA Tournament last year and Butler who made the WNIT field.
Nevada will open up the 2011-2012 season with an exhibition against Notre Dame de Namur on Wednesday, November 9 at 7 p.m. and is free to the public. The Pack begins the regular season at home against Saint Martin's on Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center.
