RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada (4-17, 1-8 WAC) volleyball team lost a Western Athletic Conference match to San Jose State (10-14, 5-6 WAC) by scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-17 tonight at the Virginia Street Gym. The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 4-17 on the season and 1-8 in WAC play. The Spartans improved to 10-14 and 5-6 in conference action.

The first set was tied for the 10th time at 13-13 but a 4-0 SJSU run was too much for the Pack to overcome as they fell 25-19. Senior right side hitter Erin Garvey had four kills in the first set as the Pack hit .142. The Spartans posted a .367 attack percentage.

The Spartans took control of set two early jumping to a 6-1 advantage and went on to win 25-14 to take a 2-0 lead at the break. Nevada hit .027 and SJSU .370 in the second set.

SJSU led from the start in the final set building an 8-2 lead on the way to the 25-17 victory and 3-0 match win. Junior outside hitter Elissa Ji had three kills in the final set. Nevada hit negative .074 and the Spartans .304 in set three.
Garvey and Ji topped the Pack with six kills each in the match. Senior setter Tatiana Santiago had 20 assists and a team best seven digs.

Savanah Leaf posted a match-high 11 kills for the Spartans. Caitlin Andrade dished out 30 assists. Leaf and Krista Miller had nine digs each on the night.

SJSU hit .350 and held Nevada to a .040 attack percentage. The Spartans had eight blocks on the night compared to six for the Pack.

Nevada hosts WAC leading and #7 Hawai`i on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
