LOGAN, Utah - The University of Nevada (3-15, 1-6 WAC) volleyball team lost a Western Athletic Conference match at Utah (9-11, 4-3 WAC) by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-18 Saturday night. The Wolf Pack is now 3-15 on the season and 1-6 in WAC play while the Aggies improved to 9-11 and are 4-3 in the conference.
USU scored the first four points of set one and went on to win 25-20. Freshman middle blocker Tessa Lea'ea had eight kills in the initial set. Nevada hit .132 and the Aggies .364.
The Aggies again led from start to finish in set two scoring the first three points and won 25-18 to take a 2-0 set advantage in the match. Senior right side hitter Erin Garvey topped Nevada with six kills in the second set. The Pack hit .233 and USU .480.
There were seven ties and four lead changes in the final set before the Aggies won 25-18 to take the match 3-0. USU broke the 7-7 tie scoring the next two points on the way to the seven-point victory. Nevada hit .242 in the final set and USU .467.
Lea'ea led the Pack with 10 kills on the night. Senior setter Tatiana Santiago finished with 34 assists and junior libero Kelly Chang totaled 12 digs.
Liz McArthur and Shay Sorensen had 18 and 10 kills respectively for USU. Setter Paige Neves dished out 34 assists and Laurel Bodily had eight digs.
USU hit .432 in the match and the Pack .198. The Aggies totaled nine blocks and the Wolf Pack 3.5.
Nevada hosts Seattle University on Thursday at the Virginia Street Gym. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
