Box Score | San Jose State at Nevada

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The University of Nevada (2-12, 0-3 WAC) volleyball team lost its third consecutive Western Athletic Conference match of the season falling in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-21 at San Jose State (6-10, 1-3 WAC) tonight. The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 2-12 on the season and 0-3 in WAC play. The Spartans improved to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

There were six ties and six lead changes in the first set before SJSU scored the four-point victory 25-21. The Spartans scored two consecutive points to break a 16-16 tie and never trailed the rest of the first set. Nevada hit .229 and SJSU .394 in set one.

SJSU led most of set two on the way to the 25-20 victory and 2-0 set lead in the match. Nevada's attack percentage slipped to .200 while the Spartans hit a match-high .410.

In the final set the Spartans held and early 10-5 advantage and never looked back in winning 25-21 to take the match 3-0. The Pack hit .056 in set three and SJSU .227.

Juniors Elissa Ji and Janelle Batista led the Pack with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Setter Tatiana Santiago had 35 assists and libero Kelly Chang finished with a career and match-high 22 digs.

Savanah Leaf topped SJSU with 12 kills and Kylie Miraldi totaled 10. Setter Caitlin Andrade finished with 38 assists and Kiely Pieper had 13 digs.

Both teams finished with four blocks on the night. SJSU hit .336 and Nevada .164 in the match.

Nevada returns home to host New Mexico State on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. and Louisiana Tech on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
